![]() The first enemy in line will take the first bolt and die, but the second and third bolt won't be shot at the corpse (like they would if you had them selected). I like to select the last enemy in a line, and tripleshoot that way without precise shot. But that wouldn't make the mechanic bad, it would merely be a balance issue. I do not know if that is currently the case. If there are no pros, then that is obviously not right. The whole point of a tradeoff is that the cons and the pros are in balance. Now maybe the balance is off, and an individual shot DOESN'T deal more than 33% of a what a normal ranged attack does. If all ranged combat was done like this I would have said ddo's ranged combat sucks. Note that I only like the style because it is optional. It would be a cool tradeoff that CAN give a little reward. Ideally, I'd like to see a repeater bolt do 35% of a regular bolt, so that when you tripleshoot a soon-to-be corpse you deal less damage, but if you DO get all three bolts in always, you do 105% damage of a regular ranged attack. Some of the things you mention are drawbacks indeed, but designed as such. Yes, it is awkward, and I kinda like that. Ive tried "sweeping" targets with the crosshair and auto targetting to see if i can get a second target with the subsequent bolts but no luck, the second and third bolts dont even make an attack roll. First bolt breaks the crate and then your character stands there shooting more bolts into empty space where the crate was. ![]() Go into hazadill's warehouse and try testing it on the spread out crates (specifically placed spread out) and try shooting them with a repeater at a low level. With other crossbows, you fire once, reload and can switch targets while reloading. It definately takes much longer, maybe its because i dont have rapid shot at a low level, but its definately much slower than simply firing one shot with a normal crossbow.įor example, when the first bolt kills the enemy, my character still stands there like an idiot firing the other two bolts into the corpse before going through the reloading animation. The time for a repeater to fire three bolts is hardly that much longer than a normal takes for one Happens most often if someone is kiting a mob past me, i turn and keep shooting, but i cant hit the mob till it gets far enough away from me. Theres no attack roll made but my character is going through the firing animation. I notice this as well if an enemy is running past me or circling me, i cant hit him at all, its like the bolts just fly past him. And the way your character is locked into the lengthy firing animation is kind of annoying.Īnd is it just me or is there some kind of hit registration issue if you try to strafe and shoot? If i try to circle strafe an enemy while shooting, most or all the shots dont seem to register, compared to if i stand still or backed up in a straight line. So the first bolt kills the mob, then your character stands there firing like an idiot into the corpse before reloading. Similarly if theres a low hp mob, your character fires 3 bolts when one would do the job. Was particularly annoying when I was doing that "smash the crates" quest in harbor. So for example if you want to destroy a crate, your character fires 3 bolts when one would do the job. You are forced to fire 3 bolts with every pull of the trigger, you cant choose to fire only one or two bolts. Trying out repeaters at a low level now and the way the animation works feels awkard to me.
